Overview

The TARA Awards is an event at Toronto Metropolitan University that celebrates  achievements by the RTA community. Each year, the event has a special theme.

My job was to design a website that matched the theme and gave important information. The site needed to list the awards, include a link for applications, and show the winners once they were announced.

My Role

I worked as the Web Designer and teamed up with the Creative Director, Abby Raghubir. The Creative Director gave me ideas for the content and theme, but I had a lot of freedom to decide how the website would look and how the content was organized. This let me be creative while making sure the site fit the event’s style.

Process

I started by learning about the year’s theme for the TARA Awards. I also looked at other awards show websites for ideas. Using WordPress and Elementor, I created a simple and modern design that was easy to update with new information, like the winners.

Key Parts of the Website:

• Awards and Applications: A section listing all the awards with links for applying.
• Winner Announcements: An area to update and display the winners after the event.
• Themed Design: I used the event’s colours, fonts, and style to make the site match the event.

Conclusion

Designing the TARA Awards website was a great experience. I used my skills to make a site that fit the theme and gave people all the information they needed. The website was designed to be easy to use and nice to look at.

Here is what I did:

• Matched the Event’s Theme: Using the same colors and styles as the TARA Awards.
• Easy Navigation: Made sure visitors could quickly find what they needed.
• Worked on All Devices: Ensured the site looked good on phones, tablets, and computers.
